Refurbished vs. used machines – a difference that matters

Buying a used machine may seem like a quick and economical solution, but it carries a number of hidden risks.

Used machines often have an unknown service history—it is not always clear whether they have been regularly maintained, what parts have been replaced, or whether repairs have been carried out in accordance with the manufacturer’s procedures. As a result, there may be worn components, minor faults that accumulate over time, and unforeseen breakdowns causing production downtime. Each such failure means not only the cost of repair, but also lost time and delays in order fulfillment.

At our company, we take a different approach. We thoroughly inspect every machine we purchase and subject it to a complete regeneration process – we replace worn parts, perform diagnostics and safety tests, and optimize operating parameters. As a result, the machines we offer perform almost like new, and their purchase is much more cost-effective than investing in brand new equipment.

The reconditioning process includes the following steps:

1️⃣ Service history check – we verify previous repairs and services of the machine at an authorized Homag Polska partner to assess its condition before inspection.

2️⃣ Cleaning – we remove dirt, deposits, and glue residues using dry ice, which is an ecological and environmentally safe method.

3️⃣ Technical inspection – we assess all machine components and their wear and tear to detect any potential problems.

4️⃣ Selection – we start up the machine, check each subassembly, and identify parts that need to be replaced or reconditioned.

5️⃣ Replacement and reconditioning – we install original parts from the manufacturer through an authorized service center, ensuring full quality and safety.

6️⃣ Customization – we adapt the machine to the individual needs of the customer, both mechanically and in terms of software.

7️⃣ Trials and testing – we test the machine on the customer’s materials to ensure that the results of the work meet expectations.

8️⃣ Technical acceptance by the customer – we present the machine during operation and verify its results.

9️⃣ Installation and training – an authorized service center installs the machine, performs technical connections, training, and a follow-up visit after two weeks.

🔟 Warranty – we provide a one-month warranty on replaced parts; the machine is checked and restored to factory condition.

In summary, the decision between a used and a refurbished machine should be based not only on price, but above all on predictability, safety, and long-term profitability. A machine refurbished by our company is an investment in the peace of mind and stability of your business – equipment you can rely on.
